Neil Galloway

Headteacher Kingweston School - Bristol

(April 2018)

Allan has undertaken consultancy work in relation to leadership and management and a safeguarding review. On both occasions, Allan’s lines of enquiry have demonstrated his significant knowledge base as well as an approach characterised by high-quality challenge and support. His very strong preparation for the visit (consideration of our evidence base) was matched by his supportive follow up (an insightful report and signposting to sources of further development). The evidence arising from this work has proven to be very useful not only in informing our own self-evaluation but also in a subsequent inspection (whose outcomes were consistent with the conclusions that Allan himself reached). We look forward to further collaboration.

Allan has been an invaluable support at Cherry Oak during a period of interim headship. He completed a Mocksted visit and report which provided the SLT with areas to focus on to improve the school for the staff, children and families. He has helped to implement his recommendations and driven areas forward within the school. We are very grateful for the support that he has provided us.

Chair of Governors,

Sidestrand School- Cromer, Norfolk

Allan completed two days  “Ofsted ready” monitoring,  at Sidestrand, which gave both the SLT and the Governing Body an objective view. His report was thorough covering all the areas looked at by Inspectors. For Governors, this proved useful as it gave us evidence of external validation for judgements made. Recommendations for development have enabled the school to initiate new practice and Governors have been involved in this. A further visit focussing on the 6th form gave us a new perspective on curriculum and procedures which has helped Governors to prioritise areas for improvement.
